Poetic little nothings

Hello everyone I have been gone from this blog for too long now! I miss it so much but I have been so busy with my full time job that I have little time to let my creative mind do what it loves. As I said in my previous post I wanted to inject back some drawings into this blog since I did start it as a drawing blog; somewhere along the line this blog became much more than just drawing. I want you guys to know me as Yumi and not just know one aspect of my life (which is art).

Over the last few months after I stopped  going to uni I felt very very unsure of my future and it was almost as if I wanted everything to pause to figure things out for myself BUT life doesn’t go that way. I have learnt that sometimes when you think you want something and you get it, you realise that it actually isn’t as great as everyone else was saying it would be or what you expected it to be. That was how uni felt for me personally. With that said I don’t regret leaving uni its probably one of the best decisions I’ve made in my entire life. Though I did go through a rough patch after I feel much more calm about what I want to do from now on.

Back to the main point of this post! I’ve gotten a job at an ice cream store and as you know if you’re from the UK summer hasn’t been great. There have been many shifts where I would just draw on the back of receipts because there’s nothing else to do and I thought “why not practice drawing?!” IT’S TWO IN ONE. I strangely got inspired to write a poem too about time of course. Its like I’m trapped in ice cream land when I’m working and time goes so slow.

I’m in love with taking Polaroids recently and I have been keeping a visual diary of what I’ve been up to to look back to in the future. These days are strange but have been beautiful. I’m enjoying my time trying to create a beautiful life.

The Sun will rise and set regardless. What we choose to do with the light while it’s here is up to us. Journey wisely.”
